Who are we?
Arabesque Burlesque is the biggest burlesque school in Montreal! By honoring the body and adding a touch of sensuality, our dance and performance classes are rooted in celebrating femininity. We aim to decolonize burlesque and offer a positive approach to sexuality. Our studios and shows give our students a space where they can grow and express themselves.
Our Mission
KNOWLEDGE: We value sharing movement, theory, and history with our students, while also regularly offering training to our teachers and updating our curriculum. We want to share information and history to decolonize our burlesque practice.
ÉPANOUISSEMENT: We help our students boost their confidence by encouraging body acceptance. Our burlesque teachers encourage you to embrace your sexuality in a positive way. By creating a supportive atmosphere with cheers and applause, we celebrate femininity in motion.
COMMUNITY: We want to make our studio a place where people can get together and make new friends. We offer workshops with teachers from outside the studio and organize community events for our teachers and community.
LADY JOSEPHINE [PARTNER . CO-FOUNDER . DIRECTOR OF FINANCE]
Arabesque Burlesque was founded by The Lady Joséphine and her mentor, BonBon Bombay, when they started offering workshops in 2012. Joséphine has since taken on the role of school director and transformed it into one of the driving forces of burlesque education in Montreal. Since 2019, she has been working hand-in-hand with Roxy to transform and expand the school.
ROXY TORPEDO [PARTNER . PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR]
A graduate of the National Theatre School and with a bachelor's degree in Communications/Marketing, Roxy combines her knowledge of the performing arts and her administrative training to promote the school in all its aspects. Her extensive experience in event and show production takes the school's productions to the next level. Roxy is a BIPOC woman who has been a host and producer in the Montreal burlesque community for 10 years.
